Electronic sales registration is set to return in a modernized form from January 2027. What exactly was approved and who EET 2.0 applies to.
What happened and when it starts
On 15 July 2026, the Czech Chamber of Deputies approved the government bill on sales registration — the so-called EET 2.0 — in its third reading. The bill now heads to the Senate and then to the president for signature. The state is aiming for a launch on 1 January 2027, with January running in a trial mode so that businesses and the system can settle in without stress.
According to Ministry of Finance estimates, the new registration will affect roughly 600,000 businesses and should bring about CZK 14.4 billion a year to public budgets. If you accept cash or card payments on your premises, it almost certainly applies to you too.
Which payments will be registered
EET 2.0 covers only so-called contact payments — those made in person or on the premises: cash, payment cards, QR payments and similar on-site payment methods. Remote payments such as bank transfers or invoice payments will not be registered.
Unlike the original EET, the system will run in a single online mode without complicated variants and exceptions, and it will work with only a minimal set of transaction data — no information about goods, VAT or customers is sent.
What's different from the old EET
The biggest practical change: mandatory receipt printing is gone — you only issue a receipt if the customer asks for one. You don't need to buy any new POS hardware; registration will work from a phone, tablet or computer, and the Financial Administration is preparing a free web app for the smallest businesses. Everything will be managed through the DIS+ tax information box on the MOJE daně portal.
Another novelty is the “EET OFF” mode: entrepreneurs in the first flat-tax band with annual income up to CZK 1 million can opt out of registration — paying a monthly flat tax of CZK 1,500 plus mandatory insurance contributions. Also worth noting are the accompanying measures: VAT on non-alcoholic drinks in food service should drop to 12%, and voluntary tips up to 7% of revenue should be exempt from taxes and levies.
Timeline: what's happening already
Preparations are in full swing. Since 1 July 2026, developers of POS systems have had access to the Playground test environment, where they verify communication with the EET 2.0 system. Functions in DIS+ should follow from 1 November 2026, the MOJE EET app from 1 December 2026, and operation with a trial mode is set to begin on 1 January 2027.
One caveat: the bill still has to pass the Senate and be signed by the president, so details may change. What matters is that the direction and dates are set — and anyone selling for cash or card should start getting oriented now.
